Fall Colors Vintage Rail Car Excursion along the Mississippi River
Minneapolis to Winona Sunday, October 9 9 am
Enjoy a scenic train ride to see the fall colors change with Jerry Ratliff. This autumn the ―Friends of the 261 Locomotive‖ in cooperation with Amtrak, will operate diesel-powered fall color excursion train to raise funds for the rebuilding of Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 No. 261.
The trip will be pulled by one of Amtrak’s ―Heritage‖ diesels painted in a historic color scheme used by the passenger railroad over the last 40 years, since 2011 marks the company’s 40th anniversary.
On Sunday, Oct. 9 the train will operate from Minneapolis (9 am) to La Crescent and back along the scenic Mississippi River track. The train will make an intermediate stop at Winona where passengers may detrain to spend the afternoon in town.
